We were delighted to see that this year’s John Lewis Christmas advertisement is to raise awareness for Age UK. The ad highlights the loneliness which some elderly people can experience over the festive period, with the end message urging us to show love this Christmas.
While many of us are looking forward to spending time with family and friends, new research from Age UK shows 60% of people aged 65 or over aren’t expecting festive happiness to be part of their Christmas this year.
The ‘No one should have no one at Christmas’ campaign highlights that more than a million older people say they haven’t spoken to a friend, neighbour or family member for over a month. The campaign also gives people the opportunity to donate to the good work done by Age UK.
IRIS FMP Payroll Services are already great supporters of the charity sector, being a Trusted Supplier of the NCVO, and a strategic partner with the Essex Coalition of Disabled People (ecdp). We were particularly delighted to see that Age UK had been chosen, as they are a long standing payroll client of ours, and the work which they undertake is crucial to helping and supporting the elderly in everyday situations.
