The most important event of the year is upon us! It’s more important than birthdays, Christmas and even the day when we see the first Creme Egg on the shelf! We are celebrating…National Payroll Week!
Organised by the CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals), it’s taking place this week, from the 3rd – 7th September, to raise awareness of payroll in the UK.
To most people, payroll is something only thought about once a month on payday. But we, the payroll industry, know just how much of an impact we have on everything and everyone, every day of the year. Not only does payroll contribute towards the £4.46bn collected through income tax and National Insurance every year, it is also what keeps everyone’s lives ticking over. Payroll is why people can pay their bills, do their food shopping, buy new clothes and go on holiday.
So we are celebrating National Payroll Week to highlight the importance of what we do and to celebrate the positive impact we have on the world. Payroll “is the largest expenditure in most UK organisations” and “can save employees money through arrangements which improve employee motivation and morale”, and we think those are worthy reasons for us to toot our own horns for a few days!
